Exploring the Relationship Between Resilience, Empathy and the Personality Traits of Openness and Neuroticism and their effects on Imposter Phenomenon

Participant Information Leaflet

Project details
My name is Jake Turrell and I am a psychology student at the Open University. As part of my studies, I am conducting a research project that contributes to my degree.

My project explores how personality traits such as openness and neuroticism, alongside resilience and empathy can be predictors in Imposter phenomena. Imposter Phenomenon is a psychological phenomenon where people begin to doubt their abilities, despite previous evidence suggesting otherwise. Whilst previous research has linked Imposter phenomena to personality traits, there has been more limited work has explored the specifics role of openness and neuroticism in combination with resilience and empathy, and how these factors can act as predictors for Imposter phenomenon. My hope is that the findings will help contribute valuable insights into the underlying psychological mechanisms that can lead to Imposter Phenomenon understanding these relationships could help inform the development of future interventions aimed at reducing Imposter Phenomenon.

You have been invited because I am seeking a wide range of participants who have various differences in life experiences, as previous research has generally been limited to academic and professional circumstances You will be asked questions about your response to difficult situations, about your responses to the emotions of other people and will also be asked about some questions about your perception of your own mental health and wellbeing. You will also be asked some basic demographic questions, such as your age and gender.

The survey should take about 10-15 minutes to complete
